Where You Belong

During the story of creation, after God created each thing, it says that He looked at it and it was good. However, when He looked at man, He said it wasn’t good that he was alone. That’s when He created Eve. From the get go you and I were created for community. We were created to belong. Our enemy likes to separate us and make us feel like we’re alone and that we don’t belong anywhere or with anyone. He wants us to feel abandoned even by God, but that’s a lie. You belong to Him and with Him. You are His! It’s no wonder the Bible tells us this truth and that God has adopted us as His children (Romans 8:15). You have a place and you have a family where you belong. Quiet listening to and believing the lie that you are alone and that God doesn’t see you. You are His.

Here are some Bible verses that show you belong to God.

1. But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world.

1 John 4:4 GNT

2. But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.

1 Peter 2:9 TPT

3. Acknowledge that the Lord is God. He made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, we are his flock.

Psalm 100:3 GNT

4. See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.

1 John 3:1 NLT

5. He saved us and called us to be his own people, not because of what we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace. He gave us this grace by means of Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

2 Timothy 1:9 GNT
